Last year, Marbella was voted the most luxurious holiday destination for Brits and other nationalities. But it’s not just holidays – it’s living in Marbella that’s very popular as well. An increasing number of well-to-do foreigners have chosen the greater region of Marbella as their new home. Statistics from the Ministry of Development (2014) show that in the first quarter of 2014, foreign buyers were responsible for nearly 40% of house sales in the Malaga province, in which Marbella is situated. To be exact, 2,035 homes were sold as opposed to 1,125 homes last year. With that, the province is the second most popular area when it comes to house sales.

It shows how much the area is still loved by foreigners. Many find the luxurious ‘Marbella lifestyle’ is both relaxing and exciting, with everything they enjoy close at hand. The town councils know this, and are happy to welcome the new property owners into their new life in Marbella. The neighbouring town of Estepona even has an annual Foreign Resident Day. With such a warm welcome and the amazing surroundings, it’s hard not to fall in love with the area.

There’s a dozen other reasons why people are attracted to living in Marbella, but the most practical one for foreigner buyers is perhaps the magnificent homes and the extensive assistance to acquire them. You only have to have a quick browse through the Marbella homes that are on offer to see the variety of houses that are available. City apartments, golf resort homes, grand mansions, luxurious town houses… It’s all there. People from abroad looking to buy a home are often pleasantly surprised by the quality and finish of these homes. For example, appliances are from top brands and aircon is standard more often than not. Spoilt by choice, foreign buyers often discover their dream house. For many this makes life in Marbella the perfect place to work, build a family or retire. And although they’re moving abroad, the red tape isn’t a big problem for foreign buyers. Quality real estate agencies like us are more than happy to advise on matters such as the residency permit and other legal requirements.
